TIPTORIAL - BRIDGES

You want to add a bridge. How do you do it? Here's how.

1. If you have created a layer for your bridges, select it and make it active first. Next, select the kind of bridge you want to use from Game Objects.

2. First you have a section of Road that you wish to link to your bridge. Then you place your bridge next to it. Follow this with another section of road.

3. Using the Move Tool, grab the blue handle on the road piece and drag to the bridge piece until it clicks. The Blue handle should turn Light Blue when done right. This is similar to joining road pieces. If you don't know how, read this.

4. Now under Terrain sculpting tools. Select Valley Steep and create a river beneath the bridge. Be sure to leave the edges on dry land, otherwise the whole bridge will sink into the water.

That's all there is to it. Will work on all kinds of bridges.

  1. Hi, great tutorials! Really like your site. But where do you get these bridges from? I have about one bridge, and that's the big one from Late Night. Do you download them or..?

    2. So unless I own that game I can't have any bridges? Because I'm working on a world now and I can't for the life of me add one without issues. (and there's none in my beta world program)

    1. Hello Elizabeth,
The Trick is to drop the Bridge first, then attach your roads. The road should click to the bridge. Sometimes the clicking point is not right on the edge of the bridge, so you have to move into the bridge a little before the road clicks. Hope this helps. Thanks

  4. Hello. First of all, say that this page is incredible. I am a great noob in CAWing and this tutorials helped me a lot. Secondly, I have a question: Is it possible to do the bridge before doing the river?

    1. Hello Surten, Thank you for using this tutorial I'm happy you find it helpful. To answer your question, YES. In fact it is always better to place the bridge before creating the river underneath it as you can see in the tutorial above.

    2. Wow, sorry, I was mistaken xD Silly question, you may think I didn't read the tiptorial. I meant doing the river before the bridge.
By the way, I don't have any bridge. Do they come with expansions? Which ones?

    3. Hi, No, it's okay, there arre no silly questions. Hmm bridges... I think Riverview (the free world) comes with one, then WA, Ambitions, Latenight, have other types of bridges. I don't think sunset valley has one though. So your best bet is to download riverview from the Sims website.

    4. i messed around with this and found if your water way is larger then your bridge you can put multiple bridges just overlap them a bit so it's 1 bridge

  5. Hi Krrank, I'm enjoying site as it's helping in creating a world. I have made two worlds but the first one was trial and error and found some things out afterwards. My second world turned out much better. I'm trying to put a bridge into another world I just started working on. Question: How do you make the road you are linking to the bridge the same size as the bridge road. Do line them up with the middle yellow lines?

Thanks for all the helpful info and I look forward to a response.

    1. hi there, I truly apologise for the extremely late reply, I have been off the grid for a while. Luckily you have already answered your question. Ye, you align the centers lines until the roads click. But you cannot actually make a road wider or narrower. Thanks for you patronage.

  6. I literally can't find bridges, and when I look it up in metadata, it brings up a red x in the box.

  7. It seems to be crashing, strange, because you can still pick stuff from metadata.
